Jumpy wired connection

Postby muspellsmegir » Mon Nov 07, 2011 17:13

Hello everyone, im pleased to be here with this distro, i really like it, but let's talk about this jumpy connection: my troubles starts with the new pc i have bought a phenom 2 x6 + Gigabyte 990FX-ud5 + HD 6850.
The fact is that my connection goes and come irregularly, it seems to work for a while and then stop, sometime it never work again and others it work almost regularly.

I have tried with original ethernet card drivers but nothing, the weird thing is that with the OPENSuse 12.1(beta) the connection is absolutely perfect.

The things i know is that the card is a Realtek 8111/8168B and with lsmod i find an r8169 (for as i know is the standard kernel module for the realtek, the same in the suse) and that i don't want to change distro !!!

Im not an expert and is almost a week that i search what is the problem without a decent result ... someone have an advice ?
By the way if i have missed something with the rules im sorry, everyone is welcome to correct me, thank you :)

No idea, but putting "r8169" into the SL Forums Search box turned up the following recent post:

http://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php? ... 69#p142793

You could try what that user did, viz. download the driver from the Realtek Web site, to see if that helps.

I have seen that post and tried that driver too, but didn't help at all ...

... by the way im really embarrassed, today i reinstalled sabayon, i don't know what i have touched, and now it's working pretty stable, for now.

Before signing this as [Solved] I want to know if anyone has had similar problems or has a good idea of what might have happened, so for the next time me and noobs like me don't lose a whole week ...
