My wireless connection is intermittent at best and stayed connected for only 22 minutes at one time today before crashing and completely deleting all setup files and moving the BSSID to the MAC slot in the Wireless Setup Form. This arrangement of "reversed" BSSID and Mac parameters in the Editing System Form has never resulted in the formation of a wireless connection. All of my connection attempts are manual even though there is the standard request for automatic connection.
The following is a log of trying to get a wireless connection with SL7. (Please note that the BSSID and MAC parameters used below work daily and automatically with other Linux OS (Mint) on 2 other in-house computers). What works routinely there does not work for SL7. An example:
1. Put BSSID and Mac parameters where they usually work in the Editing System Form. Save. Verify password is OK.
a) it asks for root password 2x, then security code. Keeps asking for security code; stop this with:
b) click on network settings (upper right under wireless icon) to get Wireless/Wired Form. Select my wireless system. It asks for forgotten root password, which, after Enter, reverts back to the Editing System Form with the MAC eliminated and the BSSID parameters back in the MAC slot. It will continue to do these loops as long as you want to play the game.
c) you must again properly set the BSSID and MAC and security code in the Editing System Form and reboot if you want any chance of getting re-connected by wireless. In my system I can generally connect once out of 10 tries by using proven identical parameters and responses to requests each time. Connection times have ranged from about 1 to 22 minutes.
I hope that this log might help programmers to understand the level of frustration that some of us users are having with SL7. I certainly look forward to having this problem fixed. Thanks.
