Serverbase 7 problem with network

Postby mkauzlar » Sat Oct 29, 2011 18:02

After installing the serverbase 7 I'm unable to connect to any tcp port on the server from another host. One interface eth0 with static IP.
Network pings work from all hosts.
If I try to ssh or connect to apache (port 80) times out (i've set them up both correctly).
If I connect to the interface from within the server it works correctly (even using the ip address assigned to the interface)
I even connected a laptop directly to the interface to test it and still no go.
All outgoing connections work.
Doing a tcpdump on the interface I see the packet coming in but nothing ever leaves.
Anyone with this problem?

Just an idea, is the ufw firewall causing issues? Not sure on serverbase ...have never used it.
A simple test would be to try in root terminal
Code: Select all
ufw status

If it shows it is enabled, you could try
Code: Select all
ufw disable

Now see if things work as they should... if so you have a few options, you can configure the firewall, or remove it from start up.
Code: Select all
rc-update del ufw

Other then the firewall, I got nothing... good luck.

Thanks, that was it. It looked like a filtering problem but I thought first it was on my router.
I spent a whole day on this... perhaps would be good to add a banner after the server installation saying there is a filtering on incoming connections.
