I've fiddled with my nVidia card for a couple days now. Stupid thing just wouldn't work for me, couldn't get OpenGL to work, things just sucked. I tried a number of things, including uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Came to the forum, did a half hearted search or two, and was toying with the idea of posting a problem. Put it aside, and when I came back, I searched a little harder.
Rita's solution worked. I had to boot to LiveCD with vesa driver, because Sab7 E17 never would get to a graphic interface for me. Apparently, despite the fact that I told Sab to install the nVidia driver multiple times, that Vesa driver was left in my xorg.conf. Edited to nvidia, and everything is good!
Thanks, Rita!
