Sabayon 7 live USB

Postby matthew9170 » Wed Oct 19, 2011 1:22

The problem I am having is that when i try to run Sabayon_7_64bit_gnome, it doesn't work... It lets me get the the UnetBootin thing and I boot into it it shows the loading screen, but then it wont show the actual OS, but I can hear the music just fine. The display seems to be powered off so i dont know what is going on.

Here is a link to my PC specs: http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... tech-specs

Thanks in advanced,

on my Acer I have to add to the kernel boot acpi_osi=Linux and than when the screen goes black, use the FN key and adjust your screen brightness.

So on unetbootin screen when menu comes up, select Sabayon in menu and than hit tab to bring up the kernel boot line and add in

Code: Select all
acpi_osi=Linux

put it in at the end right before quiet -- in the line

than hit enter and it will boot, but screen will still go dark, FN key and whatever is your screen brightness keys. On mine, it's the FN key and left or right arrow keys, yours maybe different

Ok, thanks that seems to have worked, it took a while for me to figure out that I had to increase the brightness then decress so it would work lol. Is there anything I should worry about when installing to HDD?

So I installed it and now the Brightness is way down and it wont go up, it shows the little bar going up but there is little to no difference. It worked on the live USB but not on the installed version

It works if i run that, but the brightness wont change, thats something i can live with... but the problem is you will need to type that in as root every time you restart or comeback from hibernation... so my friend helped me make that command run when ever the OS boots, Thanks

super, are you using it in the /etc/conf.d/local file?

I usually run the live version on a USB stick on my laptop, haven't actually done an install to it yet.

What would I do to make it run that command when the computer resumes from sleep mode or hibernation

Ok, I switched over to the KDE version of sabayon after messing around with different linux distros and I tried messing around with GRUB loader to customize it but now, it only shows sabayon boot options and not windows... Every time I try to edit grub it says this
FAILED to save GRUB settings
Details
/bin/sh: grub-set-default: command not found
How would I fix this so I can use my windows again
