Sabayon6 Kde AMD ATI Phenom X6 [Solved]

Hi all,

I downloaded Sabayon_Linux_6_x86_K.iso not the Amd one
i Tried to install the last sabayon release but i have a prob, after Cd boot and when i choose (install using graphical interface o even with text mode, the screen become Black as if the graphic card is not supported by the Os.

I have a PC with 4 Go DDR3 + ATI 6850 HD + Phenom X6 + msi 870A-G54.

nb: when i boot on a toshiba laptop with a nvidia car all seems go well.

is it a common prob or another issue matter ?

SL 6 LiveDVD comes with the closed-source Catalyst 11.5 driver as well as the open-source Radeon driver, and I'm not sure if (or how well) the closed-source 11.5 driver supports your model of GPU. According to the AMD Web site, the Catalyst 11.7 driver does support your model of GPU, although that is not yet in the Sabayon package manager's (Entropy) repository.

You could try pressing F5 at the SL LiveDVD boot menu and appending the kernel boot parameter xdriver=vesa so that your PC boots with, and then installs, the open-source VESA driver. Then, when you have installed SL to your HDD, you can install the Catalyst 11.7 driver (ati-drivers-11.7) at a later date when it becomes available in the Entropy repository (at which point you'll need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf to change "vesa" to "fglrx", and use the command eselect opengl set ati too).

I donwload the AMD iso and it seems working. i tried the xdriver=vesa but no chance. I think that the Amd one has extra drivers or sth.
