Toshiba Satellite A105-S2236 [Solved]

Postby jokersloose » Mon Jun 27, 2011 13:58

Toshiba Satellite A105-S2236

Intel Celeron M 1.6Ghz
1 gig
80 GB
ATI RADEON Xpress X200M, 64MB shared graphics Ram, 1280x800 resolution
Realtek 861, 16 bit stereo sound, Volume control Dial

Hi all I'm having a bit of an issue.

I down loaded the KDE 86 iso, checked the MD5 all good. It's on a USB. Now I put the usb drive in turn on my system tell it to boot from the usb. I get the menu "Default" "Help" etc...no matter what one I choice it wont load to the desktop. It just hangs at the "installing kernel"

Now should tell you I've been a heck of a time finding an OS that will run on this machine, It either wont install or if it does it hangs when I try to boot from the hard drive or it freaks out when I do the updates.

So lets see if I can get this one to run.

If I need to download one of the different desktops I will.

Thanks,

James

PS: HI btw LoL

You could try a bootflag to force loading the vesa driver.
on the live boot menu press F5 to add extra boot options, then add xdriver=vesa and hit enter

All F5 does is reset the counter. It does tell me I can hit the tab key to edit. So did that and added the xdriver=vesa too the end and get the same thing the light on the usb drive goes off ( not sure if that matters or not)

maybe try the start install in text mode option from boot menu, I think it is still there.
Another option would be to use nox as a cheat code instead of xdriver=vesa
If it boots, we can confirm it is x related

Yes it's still there

Text Installtion just gives me a blue screen and nothing else

I added nox to the end of the tab=edit choice so it read concole=tt1 quiet music -- nox

same thing

So I changed "vga=791" to nox went as far as loading /ubuinit..........ready then just stopped.

Solved I had to add nophz=off to the boot at the splash screen it loaded right up and installed. I'll post a new topic for my new issues.
