Thats good news, I did check the md5 and its good. This card has a DVI port, I dont have a cable anymore though. When I upgraded my monitor I tossed them out.

Just thought of an alternative if you can't wait: Download the CoreCDX ISO, burn a LiveCD (or use UNetbootin to create a LiveUSB), install it and then use Entropy to install E17:

Code: Select all
equo install enlightenment-9999

Check the package list of the CoreCDX on the mirrors for nvidia-drivers though!

EDIT: Darn it! I've just had a peek at the package list on the mirrors pages and the CoreCDX release also only has open-source drivers on it. Oh, well. The only other alternative would be to install SL using the KDE or GNOME LiveDVD and then install E17 as I mentioned above.

Tried a few more times, just not getting anywhere. I will keep an eye on the bug report, hopefully sooner than later :) If I was to go get a DVI cable, would the install finish as it should, could I at that point hook back up with HDMI and be good, or would it not work still?

thanks

I don't think it would work: the fundamental problem is that the closed-source driver is not on the LiveCD/DVD and your particular model of GPU does not work with the open-source drivers (as far as I know, although I don't have your model of GPU). I know it certainly does not work fully with the xf86-video-nouveau open-source driver and I don't think it works with the xf86-video-nv driver either. Just for the 'fun' of it you can press F5 and try appending xdriver=nv (and then try again but this time appending xdriver=nouveau) but I doubt you'll get anywhere. You really need the NVIDIA closed-source driver for your model of GPU.

Keep an eye on those Daily releases!

Hmm... I wonder if the open-source VESA driver would work. Then at least you could get to a Desktop, install SL, then install and enable the closed-source NVIDIA driver.

Press F5 and append xdriver=vesa to the kernel boot line then press Enter. See what happens.

I would like to say that I have the exact same issue and I also have a 460 GTX card.

So you tried xdriver=vesa and it didn't work?

Sorry for the length of time in commenting back, that did work for me however I got another error while installing. I do not remember what it was now, at some point I will re-attempt to install it again. I needed my system up and running, giving myself a break for a while from trying to install sabayon.
