Started with text installer. I chose to install over the previous Linux installation (Sabayon 5.4). I accepted all defaults and when it got to the disk partitioning screen, the installer crashed. I switched to the graphical installer -> same result.
IIRC it did the same thing when I installed Sabayon 5.4. The solution was to wipe the HD and then it installed OK. I fired up cfdisk but it wouldn't load the partition table. It gave a fatal error because one of the partitions went past the last cylinder. I had to use fdisk to delete the partitions.
I went back to the text installer and when I got to the non-root user creation screen, the installer crashed. Tried again with the same result. I used the same 3 letters for user name and full name plus an insecure dictionary word for the password.
I switched to the graphical installer and it installed OK.
BTW, I think it would be better to not require long secure passwords during installation. I like to use the word 'test' for my passwords until after installation/configuration, then I use the procedure on diceware.com to create secure passphrases that are easy to remember.
