install from usb fail at +/- 25% process

Postby indosupreemacy » Fri Feb 18, 2011 19:22

hello, i have download the 5.5 , and i use unetbootin to put it on my 4 gb usb, and for my partition , i have used gparted manually before using partition made by sabayon installer .
what happen to me is , the installation process stop at 25 --35% , and some kind of text say that this is a bug is come out.
my laptop is sony vaio , not the newest , about 2-3 years ago production.
i have used sabayon core 5.5 on it and it done successfully (but there other problem with core, while i try to install wvdial and it dependency , there are 1 dependency that cant be installed , so i switch to gnome 5.5 and this problem occure)
the unetbootin process have been retried 4 times ( to avoid risk by misswriting ) , and the problem still appear.
what i have to do? should i switch to 5.4 installer first ?
*edit , i already done the md5 checksum too

I don't know about the installation issue, I think it would help having the exact error that pops up, or the installer log, it is the: anaconda.log, I can't remember if it is in the /root folder or somewhere in the /var/log/ directory...

However which is the problem with the installed Core 5.5? Maybe it is easier to fix than a reinstall

uhmmm, I assume you downloaded wvdial and its dependencies via de Sabayon website:
http://packages.sabayon.org/
But it depends on something that you have not downloaded or that the package you downloaded is corrupted, so entropy refuses to install it.
You could try the brutal way:
(as root)
Code: Select all
equo install --nodeps '/path/to/the/package'

for each of the package, except the one that gives you troubles.
This will force the installation of the packages without taking into account their dependencies, after that, check if the program works ok even without all of its dependencies, this is a brutal way of installing it and if it works, ensure to run:
(as root)
Code: Select all
equo update
equo deptest

with a working connection to fix its dependencies.
