Install Error at about 25% [Solved]

Postby down8ve » Fri Jan 28, 2011 6:40

No matter how I try to format the disk, whether leaving everything default, changing the order, etc, I cannot get 5.5 x64 KDE to install on my system.

Three drives, trying to install on the first one. error pops up about 25% through the progress bar while files are being copied. Disk MD5 is good.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I'll try another drive. The disk tests OK, though.

If your PC can boot from a USB pen drive, also try installing the SL ISO to a pen drive using e.g. UNetbootin, and try installing from that instead of from a LiveDVD.

Had time to download again and burn from K3B rather than a Mac. It was a bad burn after all, install proceeding normally.

If in doubt, even if the MD5sum of the ISO checks OK, you can check the actual burnt DVD/CD itself by using the procedure given in SL Wiki article HOWTO: Checking the integrity of a LiveCD or LiveDVD.
