emerge games-emulation/pcsx2 fails

Postby Matte88 » Mon Jan 24, 2011 1:21

I'd like to play MGS2 on Linux so I decided to install Linux version of PCSX2 emulator before using it with WIne...
So I added pcsx2 overlay
Code: Select all
layman -a pcsx2

The unmasked packages
Code: Select all
games-emulation/pcsx2
games-emulation/ps2emu-dev9null
games-emulation/ps2emu-spu2null
games-emulation/ps2emu-usbnull

Code: Select all
SabyK bh # emerge -av games-emulation/pcsx2

 * IMPORTANT: 4 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news to read news items.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild  N    ] games-emulation/ps2emu-cdvdnull-0.6.0  USE="-doc" 3,926 kB [1]
[ebuild  N    ] games-emulation/ps2emu-spu2null-0.7.1  USE="-doc" 0 kB [1]
[ebuild  N    ] games-emulation/pcsx2-0.9.7.1736  USE="nls -debug -doc" LINGUAS="it -ar -bg -cz -de -du -el -es -fr -hb -ja -pe -pl -po -po_BR -ro -ru -sh -sw -tc -tr" 0 kB [1]
[ebuild  N    ] games-emulation/ps2emu-fwnull-0.4.0  USE="-doc" 0 kB [1]

[ebuild  N    ] games-emulation/ps2emu-dev9null-0.3.0  USE="-doc" 0 kB [1]
[ebuild  N    ] games-emulation/ps2emu-usbnull-0.5.0  USE="-doc" 0 kB [1]

Total: 8 packages (8 new), Size of downloads: 3,926 kB
Portage tree and overlays:
 [0] /usr/portage
 [1] /var/lib/layman/pcsx2

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]

The installation fails 'cause emerge can't install ps2emu-spu2null
I read emerge's output, but I cannot understand exactly what needs... :eye:

http://gentoo-portage.com/games-emulati ... u-spu2null

It is masked for removal in Portage, guess why that is.

# Michael Sterrett <mr_bones_@gentoo.org> (14 Apr 2010)
# gtk+-1 is old and nasty.
# Start transitioning away from these packages.
# Read man 5 portage about package.unmask to unmask the package locally.

So... Here I am... Again... :P
Re-installed gtk from Entropy with
Code: Select all
equo install x11-libs/gtk+-1.2.10-r12 x11-libs/gtk+-2.22.1

After this, emerging games-emulation/pcsx2 gave me another error (this time with games-emulation/ps2emu-gsnull; games-emulation/ps2emu-spu2null is not - still - installed).
Hey, why I can't find x11-libs/gtk+-1.2.10-r12 in Portage? :cyclops:
Before posting here I tried re-installing gtk with Portage-> failed!
Code: Select all
checking cairo-pdf.h usability... no
checking cairo-pdf.h presence... no
checking for cairo-pdf.h... no
configure: error:
*** Can't find cairo-pdf.h. You must build Cairo with the pdf
*** backend enabled.

Googlin' around the www I found this discussion about Cairo and pdf USE flag (look @ 2nd an last post)
Now take a look at this
Code: Select all
[ebuild     U ] x11-libs/cairo-1.10.2-r1 [1.10.0-r3] USE="X opengl svg xcb (-aqua) -debug -directfb -doc (-drm) (-gallium) -lib32% (-openvg) -qt4 -static-libs" 23,007 kB [0=>1]

At this point I stopped (didn't installed Cairo from Portage yet): what should I do? :eye:
I am attaching the logs needed

If it's being dropped from portage, I would find alternative.
