The real problem is that I have not yet completely clear the operation of the masks.
I tried the binary package of OpenOffice by Portage way with:
- Code: Select all
emerge -1v openoffice-bin
getting the same Reemz's "sanity check protections" for dependencies: sys-libs/glibc-2.9_p20081201-r3...
But my system uses sys-libs/glibc-2.11.2 without problems, why I'm look for trouble?
In a bad way I altered inserting comment: \etc\portage\package.mask
- Code: Select all
#>sys-devel/binutils-2.20
#>sys-libs/glibc-2.10.1
and try with
- Code: Select all
emerge -1vp openoffice-bin
and the two packages of glibc and binutils dependencies seems no more involved now... then the problem wasn't the version!?
In fact running emerge without the 'pretend' option, they are not even downloaded it (avoiding any disaster).
Needless to say that the binary package works, but it drags behind all the languages.
Finally, I uncommented the mask and it seems that everything works.
Be patient but I'm just now learning to combine Portage and Entropy.
I know that I love the danger! ...But I wanted to ask if what I saw in reality hides a strange behavior (or not).
EDIT: 15 Nov 2010 h15:05 -----
I also wrong the section of the topic!
Thanks
