How to install Wireless N USB adapter? [Solved]

I need to install a wireless N USB adapter identified as RTL8191S.

I'm running 64 bit SL KDE 5.4 so how would I go about this procedure please?

The kernel appears to recognize the adapter but I am unable to scan available networks so am thinking there is something else I must do?

Don't have your hardware but, if it has in-kernel support, do you have the firmware installed?

If you don't, the first thing to do is install that. If it's in Entropy (which it isn't at present) then:

# equo install rtl8192se-firmware

otherwise, install it using Portage:

# emerge --sync # Only need to do this once a week.
# layman -S
# emerge -1v rtl8192se-firmware
# equo rescue spmsync # Tell Entropy what you did via Portage.

Then reboot.

Give that a try first.

You might like to file a bug report requesting joost to add the firmware package to the Entropy repository.
