No joy?

Did you abandon your efforts, and move to a different distribution?

What device are you developing for? The HTC Desire?

Sorry for the late reply, been working out of town. So no, havent given up, this is the BEST way to learn. If everything works smoothly you cant learn anything lol.

I am developing for the Doid 1 at the moment, I am wanting to branch out, and start working on porting it to devices it was never meant to run on (iphone ect), but that is more of a long term goal. Been building on Ubuntu for a while, but felt like I wanted to step up to something a bit less bloated. I am really liking Sabayon, as everything seems to run quicker. I will like it more once I get this hammered out though :)

Code: Select all
 $ java-config -O
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.22
 $ echo $PATH
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.22/bin:/bin:/usr/bin
 $ export PATH=$(java-config -O)/bin:$PATH
 $ echo $PATH
/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.22/bin:/opt/sun-jdk-1.5.0.22/bin:/bin:/usr/bin
 $ locate run-java-tool
/usr/bin/run-java-tool
/home/craig/run-java-tool
/home/craig/.kde4/share/apps/RecentDocuments/run-java-tool.desktop

Hmm... When using "export PATH=$(java-config -O)/bin:$PATH", everything looks OK to me. I'm not sure what else to try. I wonder what would happen if you built the package with all the USE flags enabled:

Code: Select all
USE="X alsa doc examples jce nsplugin odbc" emerge -1v =sun-jdk-1.5.0.22-r1

How's your French? Just been doing a bit of Googling and came across the following How To:

http://www.pervasive-network.org/post/2 ... ous-Gentoo

which mentions your error message and two alternative solutions.

(Actually, I should say "Yahoo-ing", because Google didn't find it.)

Got it! That last link you sent had a little script at the end that did the trick!

Thanks for all of your help! This has been driving me nuts!

Hi all.
Thanks for the info, you might want to recreate this as a wiki for Sabayon 5.4 for all the Android developers that can not find fixes in 99% of other distro's for this JDK5 / java 1.5 missing from everywhere now.
There might be 30 000 Android developers switching to Sabayon if this can work.

The wiki would need 5.4 gnome / kde new install + skip "equo upgrade = breaks system" bug then install jdk5 up to where working with Android "make" .

Or just add jdk5 / java 1.5 to entropy much easier.

jrockit can not be downloaded "Oracle take over" = dead portage option.
openjdk is not gentoo user friendly / not in entropy.

I have tried several linux distro's trying to get jdk5 / java 1.5 to work without any luck just to build Android.
This might be the first fix I can try.
Thanks.

Off Topic:
PS> the new user register feature, about 30 people I send here complained they could not read or understand the way to enter the captcha and used up all attempts to register.
ie: "33 TP" entered as 33TP or a space or is there . , afterwards that can not be read / looks like static on image all option entered failed if it was partially readable.

equo upgrade bug:
Also 5.4 64 gnome live install then " equo upgrade " nukes the gui = either clean install / switch to other linux distro or Fix = " equo world --replay && equo libtest && equo deptest " worked for me. Might want to send this to who ever handles new install upgrade stability issues.

@WarraWarra

It is because new glibc should be first installed in the upgrade.

1. reinstall gtk+ and gdk-pixbuf
2. As root just run this:
Code: Select all
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /usr/lib/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

We bumped it due a GLSA issue, something we norm ally never did in the same branch. We learned a lesson and Fabio is working out a blockade to force systems with older glibc to first install that.

The problem is being worked out.
