seems to me a ADSL modem / router from Telecom Italia (Alice Gate)
Telecom Italia is the largest (from monopolistic derivation and maybe not the best) telecommunications provider we have in Italy.
With a few tricks you can also use with other providers...

Why do You even bother, Fitzcarraldo? i'd be more interested in the paintings on the wall. (or the computer models, even)
(My EeePC didn't last very long. The Acer survived with a cracked screen and i have to use external monitors, which makes it even less mobile than it was already, with that worn-out battery.)

I think you're correct about the Alice Gate router+modem - I can see the red logo in the middle of the top, just like in the link you posted.
