i know there's AdBlock, but i just re-installed the system and didn't come around to install my usual Firefox add-ons. Also, the problem occurs every time you browse from a liveCD. i know you need the money, but....

i wasn't always this intolerant towards advertisement, but i just can't ignore the consequences any longer.

(i just lost my system, so excuse me if i'm a bit "edgy". Say, do i have to always excuse myself for other peoples shortcomings?)

Well, it's a necessary evil unless enough SL users put their hands in their pockets and contribute a sufficient amount of money to the SL project. The developers, package maintainers and administrators all give their time for free (and I suspect they donate some cash too), but the development hardware, Web server rental and other bills cannot be paid with goodwill; hard cash is required. If the only way lxnay can pay the bills to keep SL available for us is by using advertising then that's the way it has to be until users stump up enough cash to pay those bills. The only legal alternatives I can think of now are that he wins the lottery or he meets a 'sugar mummy', but I don't think his girlfriend would like that last option very much .

His girlfriend could win the lottery and become his sugar mama. Best of both worlds?

windows advertizements give me a chuckle when i see them on a Linux forum, and i really don't pay attention to the banner ads. the ones that piss me off are when you accidentally mouse over the double underlined hyper-linked "hardware ' on the hardware shed. that pop up is freakin' annoying when you are CTRL+right click to open all the sheds with new posts.

i know, ads are everywhere and it's much worse on some other forums. And i know about installing IE on Linux (i did too), but.... i just have weird ideas. i'm a bit of an alien to normal life. i don't watch the news or the other usual stuff on tv, i don't drink alcohol, i don't smoke, i don't like gambling, i don't socialize much.... you get the idea. i'm getting more and more frustrated with EVERYthing! So, sometimes i just get carried away.
