Bye Bye Google Wave

Postby wolfden » Thu Aug 05, 2010 12:53

Google has announced that it is discontinuing development of Google Wave, its "all-in-one" collaboration tool originally launched in May 2009 at the Google I/O conference. Google says it made the decision after user adoption failed to meet expectations.

Well I guess they can implement the technology in other things.

While the client was so-so and I never met a person using it intensively, the tech (xmpp on steroids) is great and I do hope people take it from here and use it. Http feels just silly compared to what wave showed.

For me it was a shame that this was given up on by Google. I actually liked the concept and enjoyed it even in the early days when I got a beta invite.

Hopefully the idea will live on now that the code has been freed!
