Make Sabayon dd-able

Postby lineak » Sun Jun 20, 2010 10:03

Hi there.

It would be nice, if it is possible to create a live usb with
Code: Select all
 dd if=/path/to/file/Sabayon.iso of=/dev/sdb

regards lineak

PS. Sorry for my bad English, I'm Austrian… :)

How is it possible? I was able to create CD and DVD of all Sabayon releases through Unetbootin... You only have to mount the key, choose the ISO, choose the device, press start and wait. It can take long (with my ultra small drive it takes up to two hours), but it always work!

^That is the precise opposite of what lxnay told me when I filed a feature request via the SL Bugzilla. See Bug Report No. 1063: Device automounting in KDE 4:

Fabio Erculiani wrote:Thanks for the info. But this is a bug reporting system. Please use mailing lists or forums.

So I had to post my request in this shed instead: SL Feature Request: Device automounting in KDE 4.

Seems the developers need to get their act together.

@fitz: We recently turned this on in gnome, so should be able to do it with kde too.

Thev00d00, automounting in KDE has been working for a while. I made that request last year and was just using it as an example of a feature request posted in the SL Bugzilla being rejected for being a feature request rather than a bug. Perhaps I should have written something like "seems the developers need to have a consistent policy" rather than "seems the developers need to get their act together". :)

1. In response to a feature request posted by lineak in the SL Forums:

Thev00d00 wrote:Please file a bug.

Thev00d00, can you clarify this with lxnay and the other developers so that either a) he does not reject other feature requests made via the SL Bugzilla, or b) he confirms that feature requests should not be made via the SL Bugzilla? Thanks. Then perhaps there should be sticky thread (which I will happily create, if you wish) stating the policy, to avoid uncertainty.
