I have the same issue with yesterday sabayon upgrade, but with nvidia. Could you advice how to solve it? I have access to Linux command line, but not to X now. Previous upgrade before this upgrade via entropy was ok. Now cursor is blinking. But X not starts. Thanks

Hi. You can try this:

1. when cursor is blinking, switch to first console via Alt+F1 and login
2. post output of `tail -n20 /var/log/Xorg.0.log` here

If you are using noveau driver, and xorg complains about modesetting and no screens, then you can try this:

3. sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/nouveau-kms.conf
4. enter this line and save the file:
options nouveau modeset=1
5. sudo reboot

OK, I missed the attachement, nice way :)

I don´t have experience with nvidia, but try `dmesg` to see the system log if there are details on why it failed. Maybe it´s related to the dri/dri2 modules missing, but I don´t have any clue why they aren´t there.

You can also try `equo match nvidia-drivers` to see what driver package version is available/installed for your kernel. If it isn´t installed for your kernel, install it via `sudo equo install nvidia-drivers`. This might happen after updating kernel to new version manually without updating the binary (ati, nvidia, ..) drivers to a version compiled against this kernel (and tagged with this kernel version in the entropy repo, in your case tagged with #2.6.34-sabayon)

remember that you need to install the correct nvidia drivers set if you install a new kernel.
so if you want to use the .34 kernel, install nvidia-drivers that are build against that kernel version.

(this has nothing todo with KMS)
