After having used Ubuntu for almost three years, I thought I'd see what alternatives are out there and eventually decided to give Sabayon a go. Getting it up and working has been a bit of a challenge for more and the information these forums have proved invaluable for resolving (often self-inflicted) issues, understanding what I was doing wrong and how I should be doing things correctly.
I have learned a lot over the course of the past week and, applying that knowledge, yesterday I re-installed everything and it all went very smoothly and I now have a very stable and lovely looking distro on my desktop.
I haven't needed to post any questions as all the issues I encountered had already been seen by someone else, but thanks for the very comprehensive resource that these forums (and the Wiki, for that matter) represent.
