how to manually install a downloaded tbz2 package

Postby fardjaddavari » Thu Mar 04, 2010 9:09

Hello,
I'm new to Sabayon (I'm using sabayon 5.1) and I just like it :D (used LinuxMint for 1 year)
I have a little problem with installing a downloaded tbz2 package
I've Downloaded www-plugins:adobe-flash-10.0.45.2~0.tbz2 and used the following command to install it:
Code: Select all
sudo emerge --usepkg ./www-plugins\:adobe-flash-10.0.45.2~0.tbz2

and here is the output:
Code: Select all
*** emerging by path is broken and may not always work!!!

Please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance

I think you should probably spend some time on our wiki reading how to use the package managers. First thing is, you don't download packages from the internet. 2nd, flash comes pre installed so you shouldn't have to install it.

Entropy is the binary package manager and preferred for new users http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=Entropy

Portage is the source package manager http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title ... tage_Guide
