Whaaat? Google to use Portage for developing Chrome OS?!

Just saw the following article linked from tuxmachines.org, and nearly fell off my chair.

Have to say I agree with them, though, Portage is just great. When I think of the pain I went through with it around three years ago when I first started using SL, and how it has matured since then, I really find it an excellent package manager these days.

I too love portage. I remember using portato(front end GUI) for 3.4F-3.5 and then started using equo/sulfer/spritz when 4.0 came around. I had to use it for my gentoo install a month and a half ago. If we all of a sudden lost sulfer/equo I would not hesitate to return to portage. I would rather use portage than DEB or RPM because with those you really don't have a clue what you are installing, unlike portage where you need to understand what the package is you are looking at.

I just compiled Chromium OS with the Portage backend and it was great. Everything compiled perfectly without errors. GO PORTAGE .
