Some games just refuse to work

Postby Darkedge » Tue Dec 15, 2009 10:54

OK I installed Sabayon yesterday (Friend dragged me here) so once I installed it, I thought I might try and test out some of the games it comes with, So I tried World of Goo (I actually own the game) and uh it pretty much just freezes as soon as the hand touches the two, I think this only really happens in like 3D Games, or games that use a certain thing, Cause another thing I wanted to try was FretsOnFire, which, When I run it, Gives the following error, - Wait, Where's FOF? uhm theres another problem, I have installed it, its not in the menus, but its sitting there in /usr/share/games/fretsonfire/ (But no exe.) :( - uh any ideas in general? I just relised FOF is no longer in the menus.. + World of Goo freezes :(

what hardware?
what desktop environment? using compiz-fusion at same time?
start the games from command line and see if you can capture any errors

yup as I said there WAS an error for FOF but that's somehow just disappeared, I'm on KDE Sabayon, No Effects (Compiz), I used equo to install FOF

I can't see output for World Of Goo, because it causes the whole computer to lock up, I can't do anything.

We know FOF is broken, we need to update it and give it a shot once again.

Ok I get alot less crashes (I've had one in about 3 days) except for one stange crash when my computer just locked up and a heap of lines came up it hasn't happened since, because I regretfully added the limbo repos I reinstalled and I haven't upgraded to the latest packages yet, I haven't got any crashes, I think these constant crashes is an update xorg somewhere, Anyone know any packages I should downgrade? Any packages they are unstable on Intel cards recently?
