Hello!
Same problem here installing vmware tools on the new Sabayon 5.2 KDE version.
Searching for a valid kernel header path...
The path "" is not valid.
Would you like to change it? [yes]
What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel?
I installed linux-sabayon-sources-2.6.33.
I tried with /usr/src/linux-2.6.33-sabayon or /usr/src/linux-2.6.33-sabayon/include or /usr/src/linux-2.6.33-sabayon/kernel for the location of the directory of C header files, but no success... it keeps asking me for a valid path.
Any Help?
Thanks,
Simone
EDIT:I had a loook at different howtos googleing around:
http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/HOWTO_Insta ... _in_Gentoohttp://www.svendens.com/open-source/vmw ... x-4-2-kde/http://www.vmwhere.net/gentoo/install-v ... gentoo-vm/It seems there is no vmware-workstation-tools anymore in portage... but there is open-vm-tools package... skip at the second edit of this post.
Well, at the end I emerged app-emulation/vmware-modules-1.0.0.26 and assigned /usr/include as kernel header path and:
Searching for a valid kernel header path...
The path "" is not valid.
Would you like to change it? [yes] no (ignoring problems)
Then it installed ...configuration with vmware-config-tools.pl was partially done, but at least it goes fullscreen and it seems to work fine switching cursor as needed when going out of the VM ...3Dgraphics goes really slow by the way (deactivated).
I'll wait for updates and try to configure it better later on
EDIT AGAIN:Now that I've had some time to look into it better, it seems the best option to install vmware tools in Sabayon is:
- Code: Select all
#equo install --ask open-vm-tools
I knew I was missing something
