bad address in portage [Solved]

Postby tman7510 » Sat Oct 24, 2009 17:41

I'm trying to update but can never connect I just get

http://213.186.33.38/gentoo-distfiles/d ... .4.tar.bz2
Connecting to 213.186.33.38:80...

It continuse to try but never connects. Shouldnt there be an alternate address? I have run emerge --sync && layman -S with zero problems but cant emerge any packages becasue I get the same error...bad address.

Have you tried using a different mirror? Check your /etc/make.conf and change SYNC and GENTOO_MIRROR to another. Should check the gentoo wiki for more help on using portage.

Just remove the 'bad' mirror from the line in /etc/make.conf. Here's mine:

Code: Select all
ENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://gentoo.imj.fr/pub/gentoo/ ftp://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/pub/Linux/gentoo ftp://212.219.56.139/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://213.186.33.38/gentoo-distfiles/"
