google wave

I'm not much of a google fan.
I'd use another search engine if there was one.
I'd use another email if one synced with my iphone properly.
Have you seen that google wave?..
http://wave.google.com/help/wave/about.html#video
is a link to a vid that is 1hr 20mins
I sat through the whole thing. Even I can see this is the way communication will go.
different accounts for sms email IM voip bullitinboards etc. login to them seperately! no more for gods sake I can't remember the pointless passwords I have now.
Some of it is just bloody impressive! real time messaging, all the branch/thread stuff, shareing photos, adding recipients...
well worth taking a look at.

They say APIs and all are available in open source and I bet setup nicely for android. What I want to know is how long is it going to be before it hits real linux?
I bet the slow distros are going to be left behind..

Just got my invite this morning.
VERY AMAZING!!!
all invites are nominations not direct invites.
might be a twitter killer, too soon to tell if it will be a Facebook killer
used it both on FF 3.5.3 and chromium still a little laggy and because I use Linux it might not be 100%. I don't have a windows computer to check which is better for now.
stop by the Google wave page and request an invite.
definitely recommended if you want the latest in web tech.

I got a google voice invite this week but that doesn't work outside USA yet.. I hope this does and I hope I'll be able to use this for Sabayon VERY SOON.

not really. there is a search called "with:public" and everyone who has a public thread is available to you. searching "with:public reddit" gives public threads that are connected to Reddit. search for "with:public gentoo" brings up Gentoo threads and so on. Nobody has started any Sabayon threads, I guess I am the only one for the time being.
Now once the known universe or at least "our Sabayon Galaxy" has enough wave users, that's when the fun stuff happens, forums, wikis, mailing lists, IRC, dev channels, possibly even repos and a whole mess of other uses.
the plain fact is I think it will almost be too difficult for the vast majority of computer users. I would almost say a learning curve similar to installing Ubuntu for the first time, not DLing just using the live CD and using the installer, then having Glorious Linux in front of me and having no clue of what was next. Granted I have only used it for less than 12 hrs so I might be wrong, but a pretty Bad Ass cloud app from Google.

Google wave is apparently open to all now. It graduated to labs. If you haven't tried it now is your chance.
maybe it will be usable now that everyone can access it.
