hey there.

Guild wars doesn't play terribly nicely with some versions of wine, especiall 1.1.23. Make sure to run wine 1.1.21 or 1.1.27 - it works fine with those versions. Try upgrading your wine version to 1.1.27

additionally, 5.0 just came out - and with it, branch 5. Branch 4 will move towards stagnation, so it may be a good idea to install/upgrade to 5.0

ok, i wanted to update to 5.0 but i went to download it and why is it only like 1.9 GB?

i ignored this fact, burned it onto a cd and then tried updating it, but before much came up it said i was missing a file...it then proceeded to tell me other files were missing. any ideas on what the heck happened there? i just want to play my games...

well, first off the latest version of wine in branch 4 works fine with guild wars, so you can just use that one.

As a second bit, for your download concerns, we provide md5sums with our images so that you can check to make sure the iso you downloaded is the one we uploaded, and not just a small part of it. Always make sure your burning program checks the md5sum to make sure you've got a valid iso image before burning it.

And as a final note,

equo upgrade 5

will actually upgrade you to branch 5 goodness, without actually downloading the DVD at all!

hello. thank you for your suggestions but i try equo upgrade 5 and it says that my system is already up to date...any other ideas? and also, apparently it doesn't work fine with guild wars because it tries loading the game and then after the first MB or so it crashes...

You need to install eix probably.
Code: Select all
#equo install eix

Also, you were given the wrong command to switch to branch 5. In order to do so, follow the instructions on the wiki: http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php? ... g_Branches
