But a slightly bitter-sweet feeling reading this part:

"I know other operating systems are available. But their advocates seem even creepier, snootier and more insistent than Mac owners."

To be honest, i believe it's that buggieness of Windows that makes it somehow sympathetic, like a naughty pet, "Bad Fido! NO! Put that away! No, not there! Not on the carpet!" Myriads of people didn't buy the Tamagotchi, because it was always satisfied or well-behaved, either, no, they bought it because it was constantly dying, raging, demanding attention. When i first experienced a Tamagotchi i thought "Hey! A portable Windows!"

Took me too long to shake off the tight grip of those old habits. That's what i will call it now: "Windows - Those Olde Habits"

An excellent read. Being surrounded on every side by hordes of computer semiliterate snobs toting their Macs, I feel sympathetic to the main proposition of the article in «Guardian». I remember that Mac religious zealots were trying to convert me a few years ago by saying that «MacOS is now basically (your beloved) Linux». They seem not to realize that MacOS is still as closed and proprietary as any 'closed and proprietary' OS. For me Microsoft and Apple are equally bad in this respect.
