Help with Portato [Solved]

Postby lonesomecrow » Sat Aug 29, 2009 22:48

Hey guys it has been a long time since I posted in the forums due to my older system breaking on me (my DFI mobo got fried), but I got a new one up and running and I am running into a problem with vlc, I can't watch .mkv files with vorbis audio, I saw that the vlc in entropy doesn't have the matroska flag enabled so I'm trying to install it with portato, but when I go to add any flag on any package, it gives me the error "No such file or directory: etc/portage/package.use". I checked that the file exists and it does exist indeed. I don't know if it's because instead of being /etc/portage/package.use, it shows etc/portage/package.use, without the "/" before "etc". Anyone willing to help on this?? Thanks in advnace.

I forgot to mention that I have used versions 0.11.1 & 0.12.1 and both give me the same error.

lonesomecrow, you could send a PM to Necoro, the developer of Portato and a member of the SL Forums.

If you're desperate to get VLC with Matroska support then you can do the following to build VLC with the Matroska USE flag enabled:

Code: Select all
$ su
# Password:
# emerge --sync
# layman -S
# USE="matroska" emerge -1v vlc

This bug is known and fixed in portato-0.13. It is due to a change in portage-2.2_rc35
