Pentium D?

Postby babujbf » Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:55

Hey guys, I come here to Sabayon after fighting with ubuntu lol
I want to tryout Sabayon in hopes that it is faster and more stable than ubuntu but I am confused as to what disk to get. I heard you can get a mini disk? With the minimum you need to get started? But which on should I get since I got Pentium D?
If you guys can post the link to the file you think I should download Id apreciated, got a little confused with the long list. What are the .md5 files for? Do I need to donwload them?

Thanks guys

Please see this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=50&t=8518

for md5sum:

since u are new, I would recommend an x86 version of either KDE or Gnome mini dvd
you can find our mirrors here:

You can find release info here:

There is a corecd but it is for advanced users, it has no gui and requires you to set it up.

I would suggest you download the latest 4.2g (gnome) or k (kde)
Your pentium... I would assume is a 32 bit cpu

The amd64, would be for a 64 bit cpu

You also have the option for the core cd which will give you no x, and min. network after install. Is for more advanced users.

Since sabayon is a rolling distro a lot of releases are being added to the mirrors, as sabayon keeps moving forward.
Is a daunting task to keep all the mirrors up to date and remove all the old releases, I personally like to have a few old releases around for certain problematic machines.
Good luck.
