So if Network Manager is not working for wireless try modprobe ndiswrapper as pepe999 suggested
If not working after that then reboot computer and install wicd (don't forget to rc-update del NetworkManager and rc-update add wicd then reboot) if you use Sulfur it will install version 1.6.0 (this doesn't work with my notebook but does for others) try it first and if it does not work then do emerge wicd (this will install version 1.6.2)
If you do install wicd 1.6.2 in Preferences - General settings tab check to make sure that eth1 is selected for your Wireless interface (mine is eth0 yours should eth1 according to your iwconfig)
