Hi everyone!

i'm kinda "new" to this forum, but not new to Sabayon (i'm using it since 3.4). This is my first post xD.

well... i like Sabayon Linux a lot, mainly because of the artwork ( i loved 3.5rc & 4.1 artwork), it is great !, but, there is one thing that i feel that is missing... gfx-boot. grub normal interface is horrible for SL.

it would be nice if you add it for future releases because installing it after every release of sabayon is a pain in *** ***.

another thing, better support of Intel GMA's.

>=x11-base/xorg-server-1.6 and >=x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.6.1 would be nice since with this all intel users can use UXA for better performance.

i've broken my system many times because of xorg-server xD

that's it ._., cya !

PS: english is not my native language, sry if i made a mistake writing this.

As far as i know the new xorg will be in 5.0 with uxa enabled for intel chips.

As for gfx-boot grub i totally agree, but have yet to get it working on any of installs, though i admit i havent looked into it for about a year or so!

0.
There needs to be a marketing group project, to create viral videos and the likes. To increase the user base and potential volunteers.

1.
It should have a rescue and recovery option to last good configuration and default configuration from both cli and gui. Note: a partition should be set aside by default (but optional) to allow recovery from deleted, modify, moved system core files. A program that compares current and default installation, allows to trouble shoot and recover system.

2.
Gui tool that allows for customization of splash screens. I don't know much about boot loaders, what comes to mind as a solution is gfxboot + grub . I don't know if it allows for more then 14 colors, and more then one image but hope it can be re-engineer to do so. Make code clean and scalable, feature rich and customizable. There is nothing that boost you up more then getting kick into gear.

3.
When you log in with selected environment as XBMC, XBMC with MC360 theme should be the full screen desktop environment.

4. I would like to be able to open an application without worrying about windows, panels and the likes flowing all over the place. Its disorganized, impractical, and chaotic. I don't see how anyone can concentrate on work using GIMP for one. with all those windows flowing about. I hope better and professional effort is placed and committed into GIMP, Blender etc... Notice noob users Judge linux on their experience not with the particular distros but with the application available or not on it. This determines whether the continue or go back to something else, like wac OSX and mindows. Intermediate user Judge linux distros on their ability to manage, maintain and configure the OS through the GUI, Advance users Judge it on facilities available in the CLI, making one distinction from one distro and another by the package managers ease, flexibility and power. User experience is important at all levels, as we all start as noobs and eventually work a way up. The experience must be complete and rewarding.

5. I second the ability to create a separate partitions as additional options. It should all include an upgrade path selection that automatically (optionally deactivated) mounts home, and gives you the option to create and/or mount other partitions.

6. We need more options for Sabayon wall papers and Compiz-Fusion cube Skydome wallpaper (Sabayon) tailored for animation.

7. Modify session list to include Default, Gnome, KDE, E17, XBMC(fullscreen mode with MC360 skin), fluxbox, failsafe. The XBMC default skin is more suitable when running it on the Desktop environment as window. Where The XBMC with MC360 skin is more suitable as a complete Desktop Environment.

please note:

Just want to voice my concerns up stream.

Just in case you guys haven't heard it lately, your doing a outstanding job. Your talents are revealed in the product you deliver. I see more and more Sabayon tracks around the world in the near future. So stay true to the vision.
Continue the effort for better user experience and clean, secure, optimized code of course. Increase boot speed and overall performance, but never compromise it .

P.S. Linux Rocks!!
Thank you

Bibletime 2.1 was released on 7/12, some of us want it included in v.5.

The anouncement does not appear on their home page, btw.

Thanks again for your hard work.

Hello Guys!
I think for Sabayon 5 it will be nice to have the possibility to install e17 directly from the Entropy repository.

Although a feature to mount DVD/CD - Images like ISO or img via double click or right click and then mount Image.
I think it's not much work to implement a feature like this in KDE and Gnome. It could be very usefull.

Have a nice day!

hi guys,

how about a tool that makes easier to edit the the make.conf file? (that is also kind of related with the
keep-the-house-clean issue).

a GUI that, according to your hardware specs, makes easier to either remove any unnecessary things or add
something that you might like/need for your system to have.

Could that represent a step toward an easier dist-upgrade rather than every time to install from scratch?

just a thought

cheers,
mitch

i again suggest mercury, for the entropy tree.
Mercury is a beautiful and good IM client, Java dependent.
also for entropy, i suggest the inclusion of some modified firefoxes, as swiftweasel and swiftfox.
These packages, exists in general for other distros, and may be "compiled" in Sabayon, but adapted, since the code is for Debian and RPM distros... but works.... versions for entropy, gentoo compatible may be useful...
Mercury, the Slackware version works in Sabayon, but versions special for Sabayon, in entropy or in the Overlay are interesting, also because are gentoo compatible...
for the Sabayon five, i suggest add by default: Both CD-DVD burners, K3B and Brasero, respective in KDE and GNOME editions. is important
Amarok was mistaken in some Sabayon versions, is also important.
Also i suggest default installation of ALL the mainly IM clients...Pidgin, Kopete, aMSN and the new Emesene-Crazy
for the entropy tree, the new Cairo-Dock2 and the new Kmess2, that in this new versions support webcam use.
