Login Help

Hi all, I'm new to Linux, I come from Mac OS and I have basic knowledge of UNIX and some commands. So I installed Sabayon 4.1 on my Macbook Pro system, installed Refit and everything works, on my linux install I especified acib as my username and then typed my password. On login I typed acib and my passwd and it said it could not log me in so I went to the command prompt deleted the username created a new one with useradd and then went back typed in my username and hit enter.

Login succesful but after a few seconds it returns to the same login screen and asks me for my user and pass all over again! What's wrong? It seems as it is unable to load the GUI or something. Please help. Thanks!

I had this problem with the SL 4.1 KDE LiveDVD install, and in the end had to re-install using the xdriver=radeon boot parameter. Before you do anything so radical, though, I'm not sure if it is just that Compiz is the problem. Try first the fix in the following post to see if it helps: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=17406#p99974
