Postby v3ss0n » Mon Aug 22, 2011 17:45

Hello all
Sorry if it wrong forum , i don't know wherether it is Problem of 64 bit or Daily ISO . Pleas feel free to move. I am proud Sabayon user for Long
I downloaded and installed KDE 64 bit Daily ISO version of sabayon and it is running fine all the way up to Login box , and then when i try to Login , KDE (or X11?) crashes and put me back to Login Box. I tried upgrading to latest update now to see if it is fixed.

I can log into other WMs.

Laptops tested :

- Dell Inspiron 14r (Corei5 , 2 GB DDR2 , ATI Radeon 4370 (1 GB)
- ASUS N54S (Corei7 , 8GB DDR2, Nvidia CUDA GT550M 2GB)
- Both Live CD and Install Fails.

Tested ISO = SABAYON_DAILY_AUG_17_AMD_64

please, try CRTL+ALT+F1 (instead to log to other graphical env), then log as root and upgrade

Code: Select all
login root
your root password
# equo update
# equo upgrade

then try lo re-login

Code: Select all
# /etc/init.d/xdm restart

and try to open a new KDE session.

i did that and still it dont get fixed

KDM.log saids DBUS Error . Cannot connecto to DBUS etc

I restated DBUS service and still the same problem.

I finally formatted and reinstalled sabayon 6.0 , But afraid to upgrade coz i fear it will happen to 6.0 too.

Any suggestions?

Also is there a way to rollback update if problem happens?
