Grub: out of range pointer 0x7fea0 [Solved]

Postby kutte128 » Fri Jun 10, 2011 17:25

Hi,

i reinstalled my whole system (windows xp, sabayon daily xfce from 8th of june) after a crash.
i deleted all partitions and started from scratch.

first i installed XP, wich went just fine, but after installing sabayon xfce i get this error:
Code: Select all
Grub: out of range pointer 0x7fea0
Aborted. press any key to exit

then:
Code: Select all
Non-System disk or disk error
replace and strike any key when ready

I even tried a lxde (5th June) which worked before, but now i get the same error.
Can somebody help me?

sincerely,
kutte128

The grub version has been in broken state for a short while.

Sadly that made it to the daily you are using it seems.

This has been repaired and you should be able to fix it if you know how to properly chroot into the install root partition.
once chrooted in, run equo update && equo upgrade and do: grub2-install /dev/sda
(hopefully you didn't put your /boot on a separate partition)
