Kernel 2.6.34 nvidia-drivers [Solved]

Postby pepe999 » Sat May 29, 2010 18:57

Hi all,
I took a challenge and installed the daily Buld release. Kernel 2.6.33 works fine but can't boot on to 2.6.34. There is a graphics card problem. I changed driver to vesa and could boot on to 2.6.34 but just in a low resolution. Ok, I made it so tried to install nvidia-drivers(173...) for 2.6.34 kernel and reinstall the kernel 2.6.34 for sure as well. Problem is that it doesn't work. Should I change the xorg.conf somehow? I would like to also know why there are 173.. drivers for kernel 34 and 190.. for 33. Cheers, pepe999

Interesting, I am on a stock 5.2 install fully updated to current...and using the .34 kernel with 173.xxx drivers on a nvidia 5900 card.
I believe the daily builds are for beta-testing.
What video card do you have that you need the 173 drivers?

Also eselect kernel list and set the .34 kernel eselect opengl list and set nvidia then equo install correct drivers
In theory this should work, interested in what you find.

Hi, see my signature. It's GT 230M. I've done that eselect opengl nvidia and still no luck..

Hi, I just want to tell that the nVidia-settings for kernel 2.6.34 is missing but I can see the HDMI in the sound preferences. However, I can't test it, don't have a tv nor cables..:)
