Nvidia optimus laptop default Nvidia

Postby leobornlion » Mon Feb 25, 2013 19:04

Hi,

I have a dell xps15 laptop having the infamous optimus technology with nvidia525m. I want to run the default xserver as optirun. In other words I want to run everything on my graphics card (inclusive of the default Xserver). I do not wish to issue the command optirun and start everything of command line. Is that possible.

I do understand that this means I need NVIDIA card turned on always and more power ; I am ok with that. Is that possible?

Thanx in advance

I think discrete card (nvidia) can not be accessed without bumblebee but I may be wrong.
If I remember well bumblebee create a 2nd X server on another display (let's say :8) then you should be able to run startx to this display.
Or maybe optirun startx ...
Just some suggestions.
