PAE Problem

Postby windcheetah » Sun Dec 23, 2012 19:46

Hi, I've just tried to install the latest version of Sabayon with the xfce interface. It gives me the "This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for you CPU." error.

I have found the piece on the download page that says
Q: I read "This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for you CPU.". What should I do?

A: Unfortunately, your CPU is one of the few modern 32bit CPUs that does not support 36bit Physical Address Extension. We stopped supporting non-PAE CPUs starting from Linux Kernel 3.4.

Does it mean that I can't use Sabayon on my laptop???

Thanks loads

We stopped supporting non-PAE CPUs starting from Linux Kernel 3.4 as it is explained in the press release:
