Sabayon 10 MATE as a guest in VirtualBox 4.20

I just installed Sabayon 10 MATE as a guest in VirtualBox and am having a few issues. First it came with VirtualBox guest additions preinstalled but unlike previous versions of Sabayon shared folders aren't working nor is there a vboxsf group apparently. I tried removing the preinstalled version adding GCC and installing the 4.2.0 version of the guest additions from the VirtualBox menu but it fails saying there is no build script. I'm sort of lost at this point.

Sorry to add another question to the post but I also installed VLC and it won't take on the GTK themes and there is no GTK option in the VLC preferences nor qtconf.

edit: I fixed the shared folder issue. I had to add the vboxsf group, and myself to that group in the terminal.
edit: still can't install the VB 4.2.0 guest additions and the MATE weather plugin for the panel seems to be missing.
re-edit: It seems the MATE applets aren't included with the install .iso.
