Having problems with advanced settings.

I'm having serious problems getting advanced settings to work.
Sometimes when I click on it,it shows that it's loading up but then the window just closese.
And then when I do get it open it doesn't actually do anything.
Shell themes is greyed out and has an exclamation mark next to it. And with any other settings - like window theme - I click on a new one but nothing changes.
I've tried re-installing Gnome Tweak Tool but this had no effect.

Hi, can you be a little more specific with what you're trying to start?
If I understood correctly you are trying to start gnome-tweak-tool, which is listed as Advanced Settings on menus.
To identify the problem, could you start it from a console?
Open a terminal and run:

Code: Select all

gnome-tweak-tool


Check out if the output explains which problem it runs into.

Sorry for the late reply i've had a busted computer!

When I type in gnome-tweak-tool into the terminal I get this message:
GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema 'org.gnome.shell.extensions.user-theme' is not installed

Yet I do have user themes installed from here https://extensions.gnome.org/

I can't get gnome-tweak-tool to run at all.

I should point out that I had Sabayon 9 on my laptop where advanced settings sort-of worked.
My brother broke that laptop and i've now got Sabayon 10 on my new laptop and gnome-tweak doesn't work at all.
I suspect that maybe I just need to install something with a simple command in terminal but I can't find what I have to do. Google isn't a help today

if you turn off the user theme extension, tweak tool will work properly again. I haven't found a way to make user theme extension work in Sabayon. Hope that helps.

You're totally correct!
Turned of user themes and tweak tool works again.
I wonder why you can't use user themes?
