Mayday after today's updates, including kde 4.7.2 [Solved]

So plasma desktop is gone and I can't do much, except I have configured a console to autostart in Yakuake, where I could start a browser or some apps.

I have the issue of gnome starting at the same time with kde, so gnome desktop is present. (how crazy is that?)
The KDE apps seem to have 3d acceleration enabled with effects.
Everything is up to date (including configs).

I could start Gnome session, but it has also an error when I try to start any browser (some GTK error).

How could I fix this?

Have you considered deleting the home folder .kde4 and letting it rebuild?

Only if I know where the desktop configs are.
I am tired of adding panels, launchers, shortcuts, defining each desktop with applets and configuring each other again and again and again.
This becomes unacceptable and makes KDE hopeless.

Not to mention that, deleting or renaming the .kde4 folder, I've lost some KDE menu entries, like MyPaint or DarkTable.

What happened to yaWP (Yet Another Weather Plasmoid)?
It is installed, but not available to use it.
Maybe missing that is causing the crash.

The situation is still a mess after removing .kde4 folder and recreating it.
For instance, I can't open any image with Gimp.
It says:

Code: Select all
KDEInit could not launch 'gimp-2.6'.:
Could not find 'gimp-2.6' executable.

There is no Gimp 2.6 indeed. I've no idea where this comes from.
Is there a way to refresh kde associations?

I've filed a bug, http://bugs.sabayon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2807, because I think there is a common cause for all these, so please don't shoot me too hard .

Can't make this topic as [solved] due to it's subject length...
