new and frustrated

Postby buddhalands » Tue Sep 08, 2009 21:39

hey all,

I'm not new at linux but am new at sabayon and have toyed with gentoo but not much. I am trying to install miro following this howto: http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php? ... to_Entropy

however when i begin to mkdir /usr/portage/local/layman/customebuild

i realize that I do not have a /usr/portage/local directory at all and hence no conf file there either.

what did i do wrong in installing layman that I don't have the directory structure set up?

thanks

Before using an actual manual ebuild, did you try to search if it is
available without doing it?

Try:
Code: Select all
emerge -s miro

to search for that package in Portage.

And if possible, try to provide the solution explicitly, doing so could
help many users with that problem

We provide miro ebuilds on overlay, if they have issues let me know. They are probs in entropy too.
