No bootable medium found on install

Postby XtCrAvE » Sat Sep 05, 2009 17:49

Hello, I've tried a few options that I've found doing searches of the forums however I'm still not able to resolve this issue.

I'm currently trying to install sabayon 4.2 on my desktop using the amd.64 disk, and during the graphical install, text install, or running any of the other images, when I enter the informational booting screen after it loads the kernel I receive an error.

Code: Select all

I've tried entering the shell and doing:
cat /proc/partitions

and it comes up with:
Code: Select all
major minor #blocks name
  8        0     195360984 sda
  8        1     102400    sda1
  8        2     37646336  sda2
  8        3     157609984 sda3

however still none of these is the cdrom (or dvd to be more correct) so I'm still unable to get even the install working from the livecd?! any help that I cant find elseware?
I talk to machines

Have you tried the cheat codes
http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php? ... c_Hardware

Had similar thing happen with a friends system with 4.1 the problem was the chipset (MSI P35 NEO) but worked when 4.2 was released, I think it did work using a USB stick (if I remember correctly)

Have you tried to boot with a USB stick
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/PlanetSa ... 6VfT7wLjo/

If no luck post your lspci and dmesg
Desktop ASUS M2N-MX SE Plus, AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 5200, 4 Gb RAM, GeForce 9500 1GB
Notebook HP CQ61-311AX, AMD CPU M320, 4 Gb RAM, Radeon HD 4300 512 MB
Wireless AR9285, Audio ATI SBx00 (IDT 92hd75B2x5)
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once!
