Boot - Screen choices [Solved]

Postby hermanschmidt » Sat Sep 05, 2009 4:03

Hi! I have Sabayon 4.2 with the Gnome desktop, and whenever I start the machine it stops booting to ask me to choose one screen of the list (it gives me a list of screens). Each choice has a number, and I always choose the number 315. But it doesn't save it! So when I start the machine again, it ask me again for a number of screen.

How do I do to make my machine "remember" the number 315?

Cheers!

More info would be nice
Has the 315 got something to do with the resolution of your framebuffer if so this may help

Hi, Joeoden!! :D

What the machine asks me is the "Video mode number". Whenever i boot my computer I always choose the number 315, so I want to find some way to make it automatically.

Regards!

When that link I gave you was created I tried it and typed in the wrong number and of course I had to type the number like you have to.

I suggest you you read that link and do as it suggests
When you type (or copy and paste) the command it will list all the video modes your system supports, just change the entry in grub.conf to the one you want the default is vga=791

Try a few different ones to see what the difference is and best suits your needs
Have fun
Joe
