Trouble installing cedega

Postby lemons69 » Thu Sep 03, 2009 7:35

Hi. I am relatively new to linux, sabayon 4.2 being my first ever distro, so sorry if this is a dumb question but I have googled and searched for quite some time now and I can not seem to get cedega installed. I have a paid account with transgaming, and i have tried downloading the package from the transgaming site, and the 'cedega small' package from a few torrents. If anyone could walk me through where/how to download and install cedega I would really really appreciate it.

thanks, Zac

Yes, I have tried the plugin but i cant seem to find a solution for my specific problem. I have also tried emerging it a few times.

I tried: emerge cedega

and it came back saying a whole list of processes that i dont wanna post if i dont need them cause i dont feel like spamming ... but at the end it says

Searching all installed packages for file collisions...
*
* Press Ctrl-C to Stop
*
* None of the installed packages claim the file(s).
*
* Package 'app-emulation/cedega-6.0.2' NOT merged due to file
* collisions. If necessary, refer to your elog messages for the whole
* content of the above message.

>>> '/var/lib/entropy/logs/app-emulation:cedega-6.0.2:20020112-113436.log'

I also tried: emerge =app-emulation/cedega-small-6.0.2

and it comes back saying that its not a valid package atom.

maybe I am typing the commands wrong or leaving something out? sorry, once again im kind of new to this

Particularly since you're new, I'd recommend sticking with entropy if you can.

As root:
Code: Select all
#equo update
#equo install cedega

awesome it seems to work for the most part, only when I try to run my Orange Box installer I get this message:

# cedega Setup.exe
/usr/lib/transgaming_cedega/Point2Play_gui.py:35: DeprecationWarning: The popen2 module is deprecated. Use the subprocess module.
import re, popen2, string
/usr/lib/transgaming_cedega/gddb.py:24: RuntimeWarning: Python C API version mismatch for module gddb_parser: This Python has API version 1013, module gddb_parser has version 1012.
import gddb_parser
F1 2002-01-12 06:13:51,220 CRITICAL Unable to load GTK2 Python bindings: No module named gtk

I did find a post here about the GTK2 issue, but I didnt quite understand what the people said about reinstalling GTK2, cause I tried and failed. Are these missing dependencies or something?
