sabayon 4.1 does not boot

Postby drumbum2112 » Tue Aug 11, 2009 17:38

Once Sabayon has been installed on the hard drive, is an internet connection mandatory every time you boot the OS? I installed Sabayon with no problems at all. Recently, I booted the system without my ethernet cable connected and I noticed a couple of error messages pertaining to "NET." After the boot was complete, the command line appeared...no GUI. Any suggestions?

Perhaps and maybe.

Did you try pressing alt+ctrl+f7 once the system started up?
If that doesn't work you could try as root:

Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/xdm restart

If this still doesn't work there must be something wrong with X.

Thanks, joost. I'll give that a go and see what happens.
