Hi !

I have Sabayon 4.2 installed since a few months ... and now equo update or equo update --force does not work anymore!!
Here's the problem::
localhost frank # equo update --force

localhost frank #

equo update and equo update --force
will give me the result!!! ...it does not work!!

# equo --version
Equo: v0.98.0.2

I also tried :::
equo install entropy

..... and same results!!

Someone knows how to solve this problem?
Thank you!

A long shot this: The DNS management for sabayonlinux.org has been migrated and took some time to propagate. It may be worth just waiting for a bit and trying again.

If you've had this for over a week, then what I wrote is not the problem. I'm afraid I can't help any further but I'm sure someone will come up with an answer soon.

Same version as me, and I've updated to this version yesterday. Tried again today, still same version (so, latest).
Had no errors here.

Try 'equo search equo' or 'equo search entropy', see if the installed version = 0.98.0.2, or a previous one, like so:
Code: Select all
>>        Available:            version: 0.98.0.2 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revision: 0
>>        Installed:            version: 0.98.0.2 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revision: 0

I've also just synched Portage, did 'emerge -s entropy' (-s means search), same version there.

If equo still fails on you, you might try the following, but please read the wiki page on Portage before attempting any of the following steps, and do NOT make a (very bad) habit out of mixing Portage and Entropy, which is one of the most dangerous things to do in the Sabayon world.
Better yet, after reading the wiki, and before attempting any of the following steps, wait a little while to see if there's someone in this thread that slapped me on the wrist for forgetting to mention one or two tiny-but-important steps ;)

Now that I've scared you enough, here goes :pirat:
Step 1: Synchronize your local Portage tree with the central server.
Code: Select all
layman -d sabayon
layman -L
layman -a sabayon
emerge --sync && layman -S

Step 2: Look for equo or Entropy in Portage.
Code: Select all
emerge -s equo
or
Code: Select all
emerge -s entropy
It should give you an output telling you which version is available (should be v0.98.0.2) and which one's actually installed (should álso be that same version, obviously)

Step 3: Install Entropy from Portage, or at least take the first step into that, but be careful:
Do NOT hit enter (or any other key, for that matter)!
Portage will 'remember' any keys you hit and 'execute' them when done or paused and asking your confirmation...and in Portage, enter is confirm, without the need to enter a Y(es) first...
Code: Select all
emerge -av entropy

-av means Ask, Verbose (in other words: show me everything you're gonna do and ask my confirmation for every step)
If it pulls any dependencies, give us a shout, if it doesn't, it fairly safe to proceed, but still better to ask here, as I'm not a Portage wizard and I might just overlook something here while trying to give you sound advice :lol:
Same would apply to
Code: Select all
emerge -av equo

Good luck!

I've tried to install equo from emerge, like described here, but doesn't work.

My problem started when I've update sulfur (and his dependencies).
The first package I've tried to update on the new updated sulfur give this error:
Code: Select all
File "/usr/lib/entropy/libraries/entropy/client/interfaces/package.py", line 1973, in do_install

return self.install_step()

File "/usr/lib/entropy/libraries/entropy/client/interfaces/package.py", line 1732, in install_step

rc = self.__install_package()

File "/usr/lib/entropy/libraries/entropy/client/interfaces/package.py", line 795, in __install_package

rc = self._install_package_into_spm_database(newidpackage)

File "/usr/lib/entropy/libraries/entropy/client/interfaces/package.py", line 904, in _install_package_into_spm_database

self.Entropy.clientDbconn.insertSpmUid(newidpackage, counter)

File "/usr/lib/entropy/libraries/entropy/db.py", line 2843, in insertSpmUid

""", (spm_package_uid, idpackage, branch,) * 2)

TypeError: function takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)

Pulitura dei vecchi file del pacchetto...

Next I've tried to update again sulfur, by shell:
equo install sulfur, and the error was:
Code: Select all
# equo install sulfur

Next I've cleande cache, regenerated database, and other things. Nothing happened.
Finally I've founded this post and installed equo by emerge.
Now error is:
Code: Select all

Bug has been fixed here

Quick fix (if you cannot update to 0.98.2.1), as root:
Code: Select all
wget http://www.sabayonlinux.org/pasties/store/1414/pastie.txt && cd /usr/lib/entropy && cat $OLDPWD/pastie.txt | patch -p1

or:
Code: Select all
emerge --sync && layman -s sabayon && emerge sys-apps/entropy app-admin/equo && equo update && equo install entropy
