Install Core+Kde3.5.* using Sabayon 4.2-x86-K dvd

Postby Sguerso » Thu Jul 16, 2009 9:23

Hello all,
this is my first post here, I'm an old italian gentoo user (from 2004) and i'm actually running it on my laptop, router/mpc server and on a file server too.
I'm planning to install your gentoo's fork on my desktop for testing purpose but before doing it i wish to know some things.

1. Is it possible to install kde 3.5.* using the graphic installer ? Or do I have to install the core system and then emerge/your_packet_manager (equo?) kde-meta ?

2. Do you use the official gentoo's portage servers or do you have your own ?

3. If you use your own portage server, are you planning to keep kde 3.5.* in it even (hope never ^^) if kde team will dismiss and not support that branch ?

Best regards

moving topic to hear since it not an installation issue

kde 3.5 support was dropped from entropy, you will have to use portage if you want KDE 3.5

so you will have to do core install, edit configs, rebuild, than build on top of that.

Please be sure to check out our wiki on available package managers
