Sabayon System Updates

I suggest you to check the wiki in order to understand how package management works in Sabayon.
First of all I suggest you to use mainly the command line interface (even if the GUI got a lot better
in its latest versions).

So open up a command line and do:

equo update
equo install --ask entropy


This will update the package list and update the package manager, be aware that if a more recent
version of entropy (the package management system) is available, it is better to update only
that, and then everything else.

You should notice that it will install Sulfur, this is the new name of Spritz, the GUI version of equo.

Really? I thought Unix options in commands to be order independent...

However, to answer undoIT:
If you are updating packages entropy will first of all download the packages, of course you will
need to have enough space to let it do it; once done, it will update all of your packages, thus installing
the newer one in place of the previous one, so I don't think that it will effectively eat up all that space.

To clean up the cache of downloaded packages I suggest you to run:

equo cleanup


after particularly heavy updates (like this one).

equo world --ask
